Join the TRA
The Twynholm Tenants and Residents Association (TRA) exists to to represent and to promote the interests of all residents living in the area. Our constitution sets out our aims & objectives.
Why join the TRA?
As a tenant or resident, it can be hard to make the Council aware of your concerns or suggestions. By working with a TRA, you can amplify residents' voices, ensuring it reaches the right people in the Council. The TRA also gives you resources to make a difference in your local community.
By being on the TRA you can:
access a variety of funding opportunities to improve your local area
develop a stronger sense of community and get to know your neighbours better
have access to community facilities to hold meetings and events
attend training and mentoring events with other TRAs
hold local events in your area
meet with your local ward councillor
What can the TRA do?
Over the past 5 years the TRA has been very active in improving the estate:
New weekly Sports Club for all residents at the TRA hall
Weekly Bingo on Fridays at the TRA hall
Street parties for special events, such as the Platinum Jubilee and King's Coronation
New and upgraded playgrounds in Lampeter Square and Crefeld Close
New Crefeld Close garden at the entrance to the estate
New avenue of 7 cherry trees and a hawthorn hedge on the pedestrian path from Lillie Road to Ancill Close
Removed overgrown ivy and weeds and planted a lavender hedge around the multi-use games area
Replaced the illegible signage around the estate, and replaced the deteriorated estate maps (correcting several errors)
Volunteer gardening group: weeding, watering, litter picking and bulb planting
Urban Ecology trail for the Hammersmith & Fulham Climate Carnival
Health, educational, sports and other community events at the TRA hall
Coach trips to the seaside for residents
We still have lots more things we'd like to do, and you probably do too! Please join the TRA so that we can make it happen.
What would I need to do?
You can choose to be a committee member and come to TRA meetings 4-8 times per year, helping to decide what needs doing. It's up to you whether you focus on the environment, on community events, or both.
You may also wish to stand for one of the lead committee member positions to help run the TRA – chair, vice-chair, treasurer, secretary, or hall hire manager at the next Annual General Meeting. Find out more.
Or you can simply join the TRA mailing list, to stay up to date with TRA activities, including minutes of all meetings. Email the secretary to join.
How do I join?
Come to any of the General Meetings during the year – these will be advertised on the noticeboards.
Or email the TRA at any time to express your interest.
